Now allow me to be a pretentious shit for a moment or two…

I didn’t like Darren’s cover of Cough Syrup.

I have loved that song for close to half of a year now, and Young the Giant is one of my favorite bands right now. Their music means so much to me, and has really helped me with some of the latest emotional “trauma” I’ve been subjecting myself to by liking a guy that I’ll probably never have.

I also love Darren (duh), but I didn’t like the cover (and I like basically all of the stuff he’s done on Glee/elsewhere). To me it lacked the emotion and pain Sameer Gadhia’s voice has in the original, it also sounded like Darren was singing through his nose.

I know it’s annoying when people say things like “I DON’T WANT OTHER PEOPLE LIKING THIS BAND, I LIKE THEM, AND NO ONE ELSE CAN.” but personally I don’t want a billion other people claiming to LOVE Young the Giant, when they only know Cough Syrup, and only really know Darren’s cover. Other than that, LOVE THEM ALL YOU WANT.

Also, this episode. WHAT THE FUCK.
